This site is dedicated to my biggest fans, friends, teachers, and heroes. My grandfather and Dad.
My grandfather Bill was a hard working sign painter all his life. He started his craft at the age of sixteen to avoid becoming a coal mine worker. Through out his painting career he lettered many different types of structures. During the days of World War II he worked in the ship yards of Newark, NJ. painting and lettering Navy ships as they were constructed. After WWII he moved his family to Philadelphia, PA. where he painted signs on just about any structure or vehicle that needed lettering. Bill finally moved back to northeastern PA where he operated his own sign painting business for over 50 years. It was through him that I learned how to lay goldleaf, paint letters, and take pride in my work. He was a vast well of knowledge and support in trying to follow in his footsteps as a painter. I due truly miss my friend, teacher, and most importantly Grandfather. ( 1916 - 2005 )
My dad Bill is a proud family man and volunteer firefighter. He's been involved in the fire service for over 30 years and held many different positions and offices through out this time. It's through him that I followed into the fire department. For most of my childhood the fire house was a second home, so it was just natural that I would eventually become a firefighter. My father taught me and lot and still does till this day. He is someone I can always turn to for advise, no matter how hard sometimes that can be. He taught me to be a leader, not a follower. Words that still echo in my head. I thank him for his guidance and support in every venture I choose.
HEROES, Are Often The SIMPLEST And OBSCUREST Of MEN. Henry David Throeau.
Thanks, Gramp and Dad.
